When making the attempt to figure out when to end a relationship, this can be a real tough dilemma. The emotional investment you have in the relationship makes it really difficult to give it up. As tough as it can be to give it up, many times knowing when to end a relationship will be best for all involved.

While determining when to end a relationship, alot of people will go to one end of the spectrum or the other. Certain people fail to give the relationship a fair chance, while other people stay in a relationship when they are long beyond the point when it was time to break it off.

The second group appear as though they just don't know when to end a relationship. However, often times it's more than that. Many times these people have a fear of either being by themselves or fear of the unknown of moving forward into a new life.

There are some clear circumstances when it's definitely time to pull the plug on the relationship. For example, If you have a verbally or physically abusive partner, then it's time to get out right now.

There are other occasions when things aren't as easy to discern. One example is if it is a relationship where your partner has cheated on you. There are certainly people who would regard this major break of trust as a deal breaker in the relationship, but other people have been able to work through this difficult period and end up with a much stronger relationship because of what they have been through.

If cheating is an issue with you and your partner, how to know when to end a relationship may be difficult. You need a long and honest talk with your partner, where all the issues are laid out-like the infidelity to the chance of the situation occurring again.

Maybe the shoe is on the other foot and you are the one cheating (or just thinking about it). Should you end the relationship because of these feelings? Not necessarily. You need to judge how often you are thinking about that other person, and how deep you are into your present relationship. And, if you have children with your current partner, you should do all you can do to save the relationship.

If you are really in love with your partner and believe you have attempted everything you can to make it work, take another look at things. Maybe there is still a way to work things out. Many times, knowing when to end a relationship is hard, but if you use your best judgment and are satisfied that you've exhausted all options, then it may be time to let it go.
